Hard rock titans Halestorm have unveiled a music video for their rendition of the rock staple “Shooting Star”. This release is particularly special as it sees the band collaborating directly with the song’s original writer and 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Paul Rodgers.
The track is taken from the newly released album Can’t Get Enough: A Tribute to Bad Company, which is out now via Primary Wave Music. While Halestorm recorded their parts at their studio in Nashville, Tennessee, Bad Company frontman Paul Rodgers added his contributions remotely. Rodgers recorded vocal ad-libs alongside acoustic and electric guitar parts at Matt Sorum’s studio in Palm Springs. The result is a powerful update of the classic track, with Lzzy Hale’s signature powerhouse vocals leading the charge.
Speaking about the collaboration, Lzzy Hale noted that joining a tribute album for a band as influential as Bad Company felt like “stepping into a legacy built on grit and soul”. She emphasised that the project was more than just covering songs, but rather adding a “brushstroke to a masterpiece”. Rodgers was equally complimentary, stating that Hale “shook and rocked ‘Shooting Star’ into the stratosphere”. Although the recording process was done remotely, the two camps recently met in person during a tour stop in Canada.
Can’t Get Enough: A Tribute to Bad Company marks the first-ever tribute album dedicated to the British supergroup, originally formed in 1973. The record features a wide array of artists from the worlds of rock, country, and Americana, all paying homage to the iconic songwriting of Mick Ralphs and Paul Rodgers. Alongside Halestorm, the album includes contributions from The Pretty Reckless, Black Stone Cherry, and Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators.
