Every now and then, a band comes along that refuses to be put into a single box, preferring instead to set the box on fire and have a party around the remains. Premier Jester are exactly that kind of outfit. Blending everything from nu-metal and deathcore to techno and EDM, the lads have quickly made a name for themselves with a high-energy approach that values fun and “off-the-wall” vibes above all else. With their debut album just around the corner and a summer of festivals ahead, we caught up with the guys to see what makes this chaotic machine tick.
Where does the band name come from?
Haha, it’s kind of weird. Basically, we wanted something which would explain the vibe of the band, so we thought of humorous words etc. and “Jester” stood out as a sick word which could turn into cool visuals etc. as well. Then we wanted another name to kind of beef it up… one day I was in the pub and football was on and I saw “Premier” as in Premier League and thought, “Like, yeah! Premier Jester.” It has a ring to it, lol, and it suggests that we’re top tier as well, OBVIOUSLY, hahahaha!! (Jimmy)
Do you have any particular lyrical themes?
Oh Christ, no!! Literally anything goes. I guess in a way the more off-the-wall the better with us. Adam texted me one morning saying, “Can we make a song about peanut butter jelly sandwiches? I love them, but also maybe somehow make it about our initials like PJ?”… I guess party and fun vibes are at the core of it, but honestly as long as the lyrics are catchy and fun, it’s no holds barred with us! (Jimmy)
If you were second in a three-band bill, which band would you love to be supporting and which band would you love to open for you?
Omfg, I don’t even know where to start haha, ummm… seeing as we’re pretty new, I’m going to go “dream big” for the headliner and say someone like Limp Bizkit or Sum 41, who I grew up listening to… for our opening support, I’ve got to give my close friend Huw’s band a shout out, because he was instrumental in getting PJ off the ground from day one, so we’d choose his band: One Last Day. (Jimmy)
How did you meet?
“At the gay bar, gay bar, gay bar!” Jk, we all met through this online musician app. (Joey)
What is the live show like?
Ahh man, they’re pretty lit! I say “they’re” but we’ve only actually played one—but it was lit, so haha! But nah, the one we’ve played so far was crazy; everyone singing along and moshing. We had the entire venue do a wall of death for our last song which was pretty fucking awesome. (Joey)

What are your plans for the next six months?
So we’re going to be releasing a single very soon! And then shortly after, we will be dropping our first album! We’ve currently got a few festivals in the summer and some shows towards the end of the year, but it’s looking likely we will be doing more as we’re attracting a lot of interest. Oooo, and at the end of the year we will have something really special dropping, but that’s top secret! (Joey)
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
We take elements from different genres that we all love and mix them together to create a unique PJ sound. (Chris)
What kit do you use?
I use Mapex drums for my kit with Meinl cymbals, as well as Collision drumsticks to hit it all with. As well as that, to get our electric drum sound live, I use a ddrum DDTI module linked with Roland drum pads and a kick trigger for that synth kick sound. The whole PJ system works off a large rig which controls all of our backing tracks, IEMs, and lighting. (Chris)
What are your influences?
Our musical influences span a wide variety of genres, as everyone in the band has unique tastes. We draw from deathcore, punk, and nu-metal, as well as techno, EDM, and everything in between. All of these elements find their way into our music in one way or another. (Jonah)
What is the wildest thing you’ve done at a show?
As for the wildest thing I’ve done at a show, I once joined the band Kvelertak on stage in Brighton to propose to my ex-girlfriend using a cock ring. (Jonah)
How long have you been playing as a band?
Premier Jester, established in 2024, recorded our first five songs in December 2024 and released our first song “PJ Lovers” with a music video in May 2025. (Adam)
What, if anything, are you plugging/promoting at the moment?
Our debut album, and I’m really excited about it! It’s called Turn You On and will be released on 24th April. We’re also promoting our upcoming shows, starting with the Field Invasion Festival in Germany on 10th July. Then we’ll play at Hammerdown Festival on 24th July and 5th September at the Mangata Festival. (Adam)
